Your Future Teacher!

Drew Buzzell

World Class Instruction
LA has many great guitarists, but not every great player is a great teacher.

With my approach, nothing is assumed, nothing is left unexplained. You will learn the exact motions and methods to do things efficiently, quickly, and easily. This is why my students learn faster than all others.

Top Rated
Rated top on Yelp! and Google.

My students rave about me because my unique approach to teaching breaks down every element of guitar to make it simple to learn. I often have students with past experience say "None of my teachers ever explained it like that."

Customized For You
Learn with songs YOU love. Not pre-selected songs or unexplained exercises.

I start my students on songs of their choosing as quickly as possible. The point of guitar is to have fun and play music that brings you enjoyment. With me, you'll start right away.

I also customize my approach and coaching based on your goals. Some guitarists want to play professionally and for those I will demand a high level of dedication and practice. The majority of people want to play guitar as a hobby...to have fun! My goal is for the instrument to remain fun and compelling!

Brief Bio

Check out an interview with me here!

I grew up in South Carolina and started learning music theory and playing instruments at age eight, beginning with piano and progressing to alto saxophone.

In high school, I purchased my first guitar, started a band with my friends, and studied guitar at Greenville's Fine Arts Center with Steve Watson, former Professor of Studio-Jazz Guitar at USC.

I attended the College of Charleston and earned my degree in Music Theory and Composition. While in Charleston, I taught guitar lessons, fronted a rock trio, and lead a popular local metal band.

After graduating, I spent the next year traveling the US and Canada. I fell in love with LA after experiencing life in 40 states (including surfing in Hawaii for three months!) and moved here in 2009.

In addition to my passion for performing and teaching, I love surfing, Burning Man, and learning languages. I am currently studying Japanese.

My goal with teaching is to emphasize enjoyment of playing along with proper methods of practice. Exercises, theory, and constant practice are all important, but these all have to be connected to the pleasure of playing an instrument.
